Loving my OT career
I was a horseperson first and went to OT school so that I could begin using hippotherapy to help children. I have built my OT career around my love of horses and can help you do the same. Your path will be different and I can't wait to see where it takes you. Mine has taken me to South Korea, Greece and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I am hoping to teach in Japan and South Africa.
I use hippotherapy in a well rounded and rooted OT framework that I call the Four Strides model. This model helps to guide my treatment decisions and helps my OT students understand the use and role of the horse in their treatment sessions.
I love being an OT and I currently teach as an adjunct professor at and OT and OTA program in New Jersey. I love sharing my knowledge about pediatrics and mental health with my students. I hope you will join us here at Horses on the Horizon, an online OT student club.
